The name Sanjevani (pronounced San-jeev-ani) comes from Sanskrit, meaning "the Herb of Life." Its origins trace to the Indian epic the Ramayana, in which Prince Ram's younger brother Lakshman is mortally wounded in battle, and the only thing that can save him is the life-rejuvenating Sanjevani herb, found in the Himalayas' Valley of Flowers. The devoted Hanuman, unable to identify the single herb, carries back the entire mountain — along with the Vaidyas, or doctors of Ayurvedic medicine — so the healing herb can be found and Lakshman restored to life. In that spirit, Sanjevani Integrative Medicine Health & Lifestyle Center aims to bring the whole "mountain" of education, self-empowerment, skilled practitioners, and healing herbs to its clients, so they can rejuvenate themselves and pursue optimum health.
The center was founded by Dr. Sunil Pai, MD, an integrative medicine physician, best-selling author, and formulator widely recognized as a pioneer in his field. With nearly thirty years of advanced training and clinical experience, Dr. Pai is known for identifying and addressing the root causes of complex health issues rather than simply treating symptoms. His approach is careful and evidence-based, thoughtfully combining conventional and natural therapies. Guided by the belief that the body has an innate ability to heal itself when given the right tools and conditions, he offers personalized consultations and health coaching to clients from around the world seeking to restore function naturally and support lasting wellness and longevity.
Co-founder Maureen Sutton brings a remarkable breadth of training to the center, with what she fondly describes as a toolkit full of wonderful — and sometimes magical — healing modalities drawn from traditions across the world. She is an Ayurvedic Doctor, Licensed Massage Therapist, Ayurvedic Massage Therapy Trainer, Reiki Master, Meditation Instructor, Registered Hatha Yoga Teacher, and Plant-Based Nutrition Counselor, as well as an apprentice of Maestra CC de Nava, a traditional Aztec Curandera. Her Ayurvedic training was completed at the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurvedic Medicine in Udupi, India, where ancient tradition meets clinical mastery.
What sets Maureen apart is not only her expertise but her presence — compassionate, caring, and an attentive listener who makes every patient feel truly heard and supported on their path to wellness. Together, she and Dr. Pai create a practice where modern science and time-honored healing traditions work hand in hand.
At its heart, Sanjevani is built on a simple conviction: that the body can heal itself when given the right epigenetic factors, tools, and support. For those looking to take control of their health by exploring the underlying causes of illness and restoring balance naturally, Sanjevani Integrative Medicine Health & Lifestyle Center offers a welcoming, knowledgeable partner for the journey toward lasting wellness.
