Stirling Tai Chi Society is devoted to traditional Tai Chi and Kung Fu instruction shaped by disciplined form work, meditation, and the practical use of technique. Its teaching brings together the measured, internal qualities often associated with Tai Chi and the applied martial dimension that gives the practice depth. Rather than treating movement as a purely aesthetic exercise, the school emphasizes a systematic understanding of how sequences are learned, refined, and ultimately used.
That blended approach gives the training a distinctive balance. Students engage with forms as a foundation, while also developing the concentration and internal awareness that meditation practices are meant to cultivate. Alongside that quieter work, instruction also addresses self-defense applications, grounding the training in function as well as tradition.
The effect is a program that does not separate meditative discipline from martial practice, but treats them as complementary parts of the same study. Based in Chicago, Stirling Tai Chi Society continues to serve students interested in sustained, structured training across both the contemplative and combative sides of these arts. With its move to a new facility effective June 1, 2024, the organization continues its focus on careful instruction and long-term development in traditional Tai Chi and Kung Fu.
