B'nai Abraham Chabad is a Philadelphia synagogue with deep roots in the city’s Jewish communal and religious life. Historically known as Congregation B’nai Abraham and incorporated as Chevra B’nai Avrohom Mi Russe, it is noted for worship, congregational continuity, and a longstanding role in communal religious leadership. Its history is especially associated with kashrut: the congregation’s rabbi helped unite 18 synagogues to organize the Vaad Hakashruth to supervise kosher food in Philadelphia, and the congregation remained involved in significant local kashrut matters to support reliable kosher standards and honest representation of kosher foods.
