Big Barn Dance

Big Barn Dance is a long-running Taos gathering centered on live Americana music, communal dancing, and an intimate yet celebratory atmosphere. Anchored by Michael Hearne, it has grown into a three-day tradition that blends the attentiveness of a listening room with the energy of an outdoor festival, culminating in the barn dance itself. Rooted in the spirit of the mountain country barn dances that took place near Taos in the 1990s, the event emphasizes both intentional listening and the open social joy of dancing. Over the years it has been held at several Taos-area settings, including Casa de Caballos Ranch in Des Montes, the Old Blinking Light Restaurant, KTAOS Solar Center, Taos Ski Valley, and Kit Carson Park.
