Beth Eliyahu Torah Center is a Sephardic Orthodox synagogue in Bonita, California, founded by families committed to preserving Sephardic religious and communal tradition. Established through the initiative of roughly 15 founding families with roots in Latin America, Israel, Syria, and Turkey, the congregation was shaped from the beginning by a clear dedication to Sephardic Orthodox continuity. Its early religious life included High Holy Day gatherings in 1978 led by Cantor Haim Mizrahi of Mexico City, whose leadership helped define the synagogue’s formative years. The congregation remains closely identified with its founding vision of serving as a religious home for Sephardic Orthodox life in the border region.
