Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula is a Christian church in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. The congregation held its first worship service on November 3, 1963, at the Golden Bough Theatre in Carmel and was formally organized on November 22, 1963, with 200 charter members. Its mission is to welcome independent-minded people of all ages, build a diverse Christian community, and nurture one another to love God, neighbor, and self. The church offers worship, sermons, prayer, Bible study, weddings, and a women’s group. In 2014, the congregation voted to affiliate with the United Church of Christ as a dual-track church, both Independent and United Church of Christ. During its early years, services were held at several local venues before the church purchased its present five-acre property in 1965; Woodhull Hall and the office building were first used on Easter Sunday in 1967.
