Congregation Gemiluth Chassodim is a synagogue in Alexandria, Louisiana, with roots dating to 1852, when it was established as the Hebrew Benevolent Society of Rapides Parish to provide a Jewish cemetery for burials. The congregation reports a membership of around 60 families and is led by a full-time rabbi hired in July 2024. Its building, designed by congregant Max J. Heinberg of Barron, Heinberg and Brocato and constructed by congregant Barnet Brezner, is noted as a distinctive example of Mid-Century Modern architecture. The congregation also highlights its long history, rituals, learning, volunteering, and preservation efforts, including work toward National Historic Register status.
