First Parish Church Congregational United Church of Christ of Freeport, Maine, is a historic church with roots in the local community dating to the 18th century. A meeting house was built in 1774 to establish the church community, and the church was formally established in 1789 when Freeport requested a town charter. After rebuilding following an 1894 fire, the present church has stood in its current location since 1895 and remains a significant presence in Freeport with deep ties to the surrounding community.
