Bilal Mosque is a mosque in Richmond, Virginia, with roots in a formative chapter of Muslim American religious life. Its community traces back to the former Richmond Masjid of the American Muslim Mission and to early believers who, in 1975, followed Imam Warith Deen Mohammed after the death of Elijah Muhammad. Guided locally by Minister David Duff, also known as Dawud Ahmad, the congregation underwent a major religious transition that helped lay the foundation for what is now identified as the Muslim American Community RVA. Bilal Mosque presents Islam as a faith of both devotion and public life, affirming the Holy Qur'an as guidance and the life of the Prophet Muhammad as a model of conduct. Its mission emphasizes strong family life, moral excellence, and responsible participation in educational, political, economic, and civic life.
