Bible Center Church is a long-established Charleston congregation whose mission centers on being a place where people can worship, belong, and serve. Emerging from an early basement Bible study, the church has grown steadily across generations while maintaining a welcoming, compassionate approach grounded in the belief that everyone is broken and in need of grace. Its ministry emphasizes loving and serving Charleston and the greater Kanawha Valley, with an aspiration to be a beacon of hope and inspiration beyond its immediate community. The church reached an early milestone on Capitol Street in 1938 and has been based on Bible Center Drive since 2008, following the 2004 purchase of 90 acres along Corridor G tied to a vision for gospel expansion. Leadership continuity has also shaped its development, including the calling of Shawn Thornton as the church’s fourth Senior Pastor in 1997.
