Reformatted psychiatrist description into flowing proseI'm a solo private psychiatrist in Dover, New Hampshire, and I've built my practice around a simple conviction: that good care begins with really listening. In my office, you are not a number. You're a whole person — a body and a mind, a history and a present — and I take the time to understand all of it. Over twenty years of practice, and training at some of the country's finest institutions, have given me both the medical expertise and the perspective to treat the full picture. My specialties include mood disorders and the full range of anxiety conditions, from obsessive-compulsive disorder to generalized anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder.
I'm a board-certified psychiatrist, and I combine psychotherapy and medication management within a single practice rather than treating them as separate worlds. Every patient begins with a thorough evaluation of both physical and emotional health, because the two are rarely separate. From there, my recommendations may include medication, diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes, alongside psychotherapy where it fits — and when another specialist would serve you better, I'll refer you to trusted psychotherapists, dietitians, massage therapists, or to endocrinology, neurology, or rheumatology.
I try to be a compassionate listener and a practical partner: working with you to solve the problems we can solve, and to build coping strategies for the ones we can't. As a physician, there are times I'll offer clear medical advice, particularly around mental illness and medication; other times I'll offer techniques to carry you through a difficult moment. What I don't believe in is talking for its own sake — conversation without insight or understanding, in my experience, doesn't move people forward.
Because I practice solo, the experience is genuinely personal. I have no secretary, so when you call, you'll always reach me directly. I'm available on my cell phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — though I ask that you reserve that line for life-threatening emergencies. Your records live on my own computer and are never stored online. The advantage is real privacy. The trade-off is that, without front-office staff, you may occasionally wait for a call back about scheduling — though I always strive to return calls within 24 hours. For me, that's a worthwhile exchange: a smaller, quieter, more private practice in return for care that stays personal.
