Since 1949, the American Osteopathic Foundation has worked in service of the osteopathic profession by investing in the people, ideas, and initiatives that sustain its future. Its mission is rooted in recognition and support: honoring excellence within the field while directing resources toward the areas most likely to strengthen the profession over time. That commitment is organized around five funding priorities: educational scholarships, community service, scholarly research, international mission trips, and osteopathic recognition.
Together, those priorities reflect a broad view of professional stewardship—one that values academic advancement, service to communities, the development of new knowledge, and meaningful acknowledgment of achievement. A defining part of the foundation’s identity is its emphasis on celebrating the best and brightest in the profession. Recognition is not treated as ceremonial alone, but as part of a larger effort to elevate standards, encourage leadership, and reinforce the values that have shaped osteopathic medicine across generations.
The foundation also invites long-range support through planned giving, underscoring a legacy-minded approach to philanthropy. Its work is less about a single program than about sustaining an entire professional community through strategic funding, acknowledgment, and enduring institutional commitment.
