313 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a Detroit martial arts academy founded in 2015 by longtime practitioners Fabio Lima and Zander Heinen as the city’s first school devoted specifically to Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Shaped by the founders’ background at Marcelo Garcia Jiu-Jitsu Academy in New York City, the school trains with a direct, disciplined emphasis on grappling fundamentals, including control, leverage, positional understanding, ground fighting, and self-defense. It is the only official Marcelo Garcia Jiu-Jitsu Academy Association in Michigan, and its instruction is closely tied to that black belt lineage. The academy combines serious technical training with a strong awareness of Brazilian jiu-jitsu’s historical development from judo and its broader lineage within the art.
