Dr. Kathryn Fraser, PhD, is a Licensed Psychologist and the Behavioral Medicine Coordinator in the Halifax Health Family Medicine Residency Program. In this role, she teaches family medicine residents while providing psychotherapy and family therapy, blending clinical practice with a deep commitment to medical education.
Dr. Fraser's academic interests span a wide range of meaningful areas, including health behavior change, professionalism in medicine, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in healthcare, faculty development, mentorship in academic medicine, and relaxation therapies. Her work reflects a dedication not only to patient care, but also to shaping the next generation of compassionate, well-rounded physicians.
A respected leader in her field, Dr. Fraser is a former director of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Underrepresented in Medicine Mentorship Program and the Behavioral Science/Family Systems Educator Fellowship, and she currently serves on the STFM Board. Her contributions have been recognized with the Susan McDaniel Distinguished Career Award as well as STFM's inaugural Diversity Award—honors that speak to her lasting impact on academic medicine, mentorship, and inclusive care.
