Lāhainā Hongwanji Mission is a Shin Buddhist (Jodo Shinshu) temple in Lahaina, Hawaii. Part of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition, the mission traces its early history to 1904, when Kenyo Arai arrived to propagate the teachings. The temple’s main building and several other structures were lost in the Maui wildfires on August 9, 2023, and recovery efforts have continued since the disaster.
