Congregation Ahavath Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish congregation in Boise, Idaho, formed in 1986 through the merger of Temple Beth Israel and Ahavath Israel. Its roots include Temple Beth Israel, built in 1895 by German-Jewish immigrants in downtown Boise, and described as the oldest continuously used synagogue west of the Mississippi River. Affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism, the congregation describes its mission as empowering people to lead meaningful Jewish lives and aspires to be an inclusive Jewish community that advances learning, spiritual growth, Jewish practice, kindness, and social justice. The congregation also encourages the study of Torah in both traditional and innovative ways.
