The American Albanian Islamic Center of Wisconsin is a nonprofit mosque and community institution founded in Kenosha in 1979 to serve a growing Albanian Muslim community in southeastern Wisconsin. Established by 25 members who had immigrated from Europe, it has grown into a longstanding center for worship, connection, and communal life for Muslims in Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, and nearby cities. Identified in its own history as the first masjid in Wisconsin, the center holds particular historical importance as an early anchor for Albanian Islamic life in the state. Its development reflects steady growth, intergenerational continuity, and an enduring commitment to religious life, representation, and community building.
