Ballet Academy of Charleston is a dance school focused on serious ballet training delivered with warmth, encouragement, and a clear love of dance. Its faculty combines strong technical backgrounds with a supportive teaching style, drawing on formal study and experience with institutions including the School of the Arts in Charleston, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Festival Ballet, Contemporary Dance Oklahoma, Joffrey Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Gus Giordano, Sanspointe Dance Company, and the American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive. The academy is led by owner and director Jessica, a College of Charleston graduate in Elementary Education who joined the faculty in 2008 and became owner and director in 2021. Performance is also part of the school’s training culture, with every enrolled student invited to participate in the Junior Company, which performs annually each spring.
